Saraid sat under a tree. She was tired from a long day of school. She had also had a large fight with Keagan about how her dad was not as bad as he thought. Now she was just annoyed with her brother like usual. She wanted a smoke but she'd promised that guy she wouldn't anymore. So she didn't reach for her pack. She layed back against the tree.

Ciar walked around on the grounds, randomly stopping to look up from his feet. Having skipped Transfiguration by complaining of a migraine, he'd gotten out of his least favourite subject with his least favourite teacher. He couldn't stand McGonnagal anymore than the Gryffindors who had her. She was just such a bloody cow.
Pulling at the new hoop through his lower lip, he winced at the pain, then smiled. They really should have refilled my medicine, he thought, a sadistic smirk on his face.
Looking over at a tree, he saw a girl sitting under it. It was none other than Queen of the Giggling Freaks. He almost smiled, and walked over to her.
"Hey, princess..." he said, using the nickname she'd hated the first time.

She looked away from him examining her purple fingernail polish. "I quit smoking now leave me along."

He put a hand on his heart.
"But Ciar does not wish to leave the princess alone. Besides..." he added, sitting down in front of her. "Kegan made me come look for you..."
She looked over at her, again marvelling at the fact she looked nothing like her brother. Then he remembered seeing Kegan's mother, and had to restrain a wolf-whistle. He shook his head a little and stared out at the lake.

"I didn't relize he cared so much. He never seemed to before."
She crossed her legs that were stretched out in front of her. She still was not looking at him, she decided she didn't want to.

He shrugged nonchantly.
"He just said to make sure you didn't go running to you're daddy," he said, molding his voice on the last part to sound a lot like a five-year-old version of Kegan.
He looked over at her for a second and tilted his head, squinting. Ah, there's her mother in her. It's hiding under what must be her father...hm... he looked away a little.

She sneered and looked up at him.
"What are you staring at?"

He just sighed a little and stood up. Looking down at her with an almost sad face, he just shook his head.
"Nothing, doesn't matter," he mumbled starting to walk away.
About twenty feet away he stopped and turned. "You know? Most guys don't fall for b.itches, especially the one's who hang out with Giggling Freaks, so you might want to change your attitude. I know your brother hates your dad, but if you look at it from his point of view, he has the right. From what I've heard him sing when he thinks he's alone, your dad pretty much ignored him...Not that it's any of my business."
He turned and started to walk away again.

She stood up and followed after him.
"Kegan was ignored by dad. But Kegan wasn't very interested in making his and dad's realtionship any better. And I love my brother no matter what you or he thinks. My attitude has changed alot since I met you. I just don't like you that much because your mean to me."

He turned around and looked down at her.
"Do you know that for certain? Guys aren't like girls, we hide what we feel for as long as we can, and cover up our sensitive sides with the competition-craving side. Kegan wanted to get close to your dad, he just didn't think your dad wanted to get close to him. Your brother loves you and your family, deep down he even loves his dad. You've probably got the best family in the world, so don't try and take it for granted.
I'm mean to you because you've got the best life. You have two parents who love you and a brother who's protective of you enough to send someone he knows you hate to look for you, but not enough to beat up some guy you date. I don't have a family. It's that bloody simple. I live in an orphanage, and am moved from place to bloody place every six months. I haven't ever been adopted, nor fostered, and I've been in homes since I was five! I don't know the feeling of love, and I wouldn't know any feeling if I hadn't discovered that if one slices one's arm with a razor, one is filled with a sharp sense of wrong and a red liquid flows from the inscission.
I'm sorry you don't like me, there's nothing I can do to change that. I've been like this my whole life. In the homes I'm beaten bloody, then I hurt myself until I pass out. Numerous guys at the orphanages, my age and older, have bloody r.aped me, even though I'm straight!
That's not even half of the things I've been through.
So before you decide to go into your 'My life isn't perfect' mode, just think back over how much worse it could be, and that's my life. "

She nodded. She looked at him for a second then slowly started walking away. She needed to absorb what he had just said. Then she needed to go find Kegan and talk to him. She slowly went and sat under the tree again. She closed her eyes and thought over what he had just said.

He just watched her, shook his head a little, and went two-at-a-time up the steps into the castle

Kegan walked out of the castle, down the steps and onto the grounds. He majorly needed to get away from people, and be outside in the air where he could breathe...and bleed. In the pocket of his heavy black coat, was a Swiss Army knife. He had recently sharped the blade so that it would slice through a blade of crass without any thought.
His shoved his hands into the pockets, the fingers of his left curling around the Swiss Army knife, and the fingers of his right, curling around a small dagger. He relaxed visibly until he spotted the last person he wanted to see....
Saraid.

She looked up for a moment and spotted Kegan. She stood up slinging her schoolbag over her shoulder. She walked over to him slowly.
"Kegan, I think we need to talk..."
