The rest of the day goes by quickly. You somehow manage to get through the day without anything giving away your new status as a Death Eater. In fact, if you hadn’t been so busy trying to keep your arm nice and covered, the rest of the day was actually pleasant.
Now, as you sit eating dinner, you sigh peacefully and look around, carefully keeping your eyes off the Slytherin table. You flinch as you remember the event from this morning.
As your eyes land on Remus, you frown a little. He sits there, staring at his empty, clean plate. His face is pale and his eyes close in pain every few seconds.
“Remus?” you whisper, knowing everyone else is too busy talking about the up-coming Quidditch match.
He doesn’t reply. Instead, he crosses his arms and closes his eyes, moaning softly. No one else seems to notice.
You glance at your friends’ faces. Lily and Caroline are chatting about some guy in seventh year that happens to be in Ravenclaw. Shaking your head a little, you look at the guys just in time to see James glance from Remus, to you, and then back to Sirius who’s obsessing over one of the plays.
Frowning a little, you look back at Remus. Now he’s as white as one of the ghosts floating around.
“Remus?” you ask again, gently putting a hand on his shoulder.
He tenses and turns, growling. You flinch at the lack of humanity in his growl and quickly pull back your hand.
His eyes widen a little. “Sorry, Dreams…”
“You ok?” you ask softly.
He glances around. “Er…yeah, I’m fine. I’ve just got a stomach ache. I-I think I’ll go see Madame Pomfrey.”
Before you can react, he jumps to his feet and bolts for the doors. You stare after him in shock before turning on James and Sirius.
“How could you two?” you hiss.
James looks startled at your anger. “How could we what?”
“Ignore his pain!” you say, getting louder.
“Dreams—” Sirius starts, trying to calm you down.
“I mean bloody hell! He’s you’re friend!” you say, louder still.
“Dreams! Lower your—” James says, his voice sounding panicky as he glances around.
“You two are such…bastards!” you interrupt, narrowing your eyes and glaring.
Not waiting for a response, you get up from the table and quickly leave the Great Hall. Crossing your arms, you start walking faster, too angry to hear the sound of footsteps following you.
“Dreams! Dreams wait!”
At the sound of Sirius’ voice, you sigh and slow down a bit. You already told him you would meet him in the Library. You can’t just back out now. One week is one thing, two or more is a completely different story. No one would let you ignore him that long.
“Dreams, please…” he says as he catches up to you.
Turning to look at him, you see his eyes are full of sadness while he has a pleading look on his face. You raise an eyebrow a little.
“Please what?” you ask.
He just shakes his head and grabs your hand. You tense a little and he must notice for he lets go of you. You see a hint of pain appear behind the sadness.
“Come with me,” he says and starts to walk away.
You follow after him, not really thinking about it. Just then it hits you how much you miss him. [iBut he dumped you saying you and Severus would be good together[/i], a nasty voice reminds you. Did he really dump you, or was he just over-reacting? I wish I could read his mind right now…
“Uh…Sirius? This isn’t the way to the Library…” you say, glancing around.
“We’re not going to the Library,” he replies monotonously. “I just said to meet me there…”
