Standing in a tree, you waited impatiently for him. Your black tail whipped behind you rigidly to show your attitude. If he didn’t come soon, you were going to leave.
“You never were one to be patient, Aderes.”
You rolled your eyes. “You were never one to be loving, Sesshoumaru.”
He sighed. “Then why do you say?”
“Because you aren’t unbearable company,” you said, giving him a small smile.
He just nodded. “Follow me.”
You jumped from the tree and landed noiselessly next to him on the ground. The two of you traveled in silence. He was not talkative, the demon next to you. He was a prince, wanted to be your mate, but you didn’t let him. You loved him, yes, but your heart belonged to someone else. Someone you could not have.
Finally he stopped on the edge of a clearing.
“Jump up into the tree and tell me what you can spot.”
Nodding once, you did as he told. Only, as soon as you did, you wished you hadn’t. Your heart clenched painfully in your chest, and a low whimper escaped you as your black ears laid back against your skull. You jumped down back to his side.
“There is a monk, a small kitsune, a slayer…a girl with strange clothes…and…your brother,” you said in a monotone.
He just nodded again, knowing of the pain you felt.
There was silence as he let you regain your composure. Taking a deep breath, you looked at him coldly.
“Can I kill them, Fluffy?” you asked, using the little girl’s nickname for him.
He looked at you for a minute, trying to see if you were serious. Seeing that you weren’t, he shook his head.
“No.”
“Not even the girl?” you asked, eyebrow raised.
He growled, glaring through the bushes. “No.”
“Why not?” you asked, already thinking you knew the answer.
He gave you an annoyed look, before glancing away again. “Because then you would never be my mate. You’d go running back to Inuyasha.”
You sighed hearing the jealous anger. “He would not welcome me back, Sesshoumaru. He betrayed me once, and he would do so again upon seeing another pretty human.”
The dog demon just turned away from you. “He was an idiot for giving you up.”
You blinked, slightly surprised. Tilting your head a little, your ears perked up in interest. “Why did you bring me here?”
“You have a month…come back find me at the end of it,” he said quietly. “I will be traveling.”
Before you could reply, he disappeared into the shadows leaving you standing there like an idiot. Shaking your head, you growled after him, baring your unusually pointed canines.
“Idiot…” you muttered, before pulling the hood of your cloak up to cover your ears, and to cast your face into shadows.
“Apparently she’s just been going around killing people at random,” Inuyasha ended, growling a little.
“Well then we should find her!” Kagome said. “Surely she’s not that hard to spot.”
“No one knows what she looks like,” Sango said, shrugging. “The only ones who have seen her, are in no position to tell us.”
“Oh.”
“Idiot.”
“SIT BOY!!”
!THUD!
“Kagome!”
“Excuse me…”
The group froze and turned to see the tall figure of someone wearing a black cloak standing next to them. Shippo jumped and leapt away, having not noticed you there.
You smiled a little at their reactions, and carefully kept your gaze away from Inuyasha.
“What do you want?” the girl-in-strange-clothes asked.
You glared at her from under the hood, but didn’t kill her. “I would like to speak to Kaede.”
“Why would you need to do that?” she asked, frowning at you suspiciously.
“Because I know her from a long time ago and I would like to visit her.”
Suddenly Inuyasha’s face appeared right in front of you as he tried to peer into the darkness of your hood. You were extremely grateful he couldn’t, otherwise he would have seen the pain and anger held in your eyes.
“Who are you?”
You smiled a little. “I have many names…to some, I’m Thorn…to others, I’m Spyke…but most call me the Sorrowful Death.”
They all stared at you in shock, before Inuyasha growled. “We’ve been looking for you! You’ve murdered countless people!”
“I know.”
“Then prepare to—Aderes?!” he yelped and jumped away.
You had pulled off your hood, and were staring at him with your cold amber eyes. Your ears were straight up, and your tail was rigid.
“Hello, Inuyasha…” you said with a sad smile.
He just stared at you. “But…you…”
“It’s been a long time, hasn’t it?”
He just nodded dumbly, staring at you in shock. You watched as regret flashed in his eyes, before sadness took over.
“I’m so sorry…” he muttered.
You just shook your head. “Why are you apologizing?”
“Because…” he said, avoiding your gaze. “I betrayed you.”
“It wasn’t your—” you stopped abruptly and looked down.
There was an arrowhead sticking out of the middle of your chest.
“Aderes!”
It felt weird, having an arrow sticking out of a place arrows weren’t supposed to be. Blinking, you slowly raised a hand to touch it. Your fingers were too numb. Looking up, you saw an anguished look on Inuyasha’s face. He was upset!
Smiling weakly, you sighed. “Guess this is good-bye, huh, Inuyasha?”
With that, you blacked out.
Inuyasha caught you before you hit the ground. He then glared at the one holding the bow.
“Kagome! Why’d you do that?!”
She rolled her eyes. “Because, she was probably going to kill Kaede!”
He growled, before lifting your body into his arms. Then he sprinted in the direction of Kaede’s hut.
“Old woman!” he shouted from outside the door.
“Idiot dog!”
Kaede opened the door, and gasped as her good eye saw you.
“What happened?” she asked, moving so he could get in.
He did so, and placed you on the cot. “Kagome shot her.”
“What? Why?!”
He shrugged. “She thought Aderes was going to kill you.”
Kaede just shook her head. “She wouldn’t,” she muttered.
“Can you heal her?” Inuyasha whispered.
She looked at the hanyou for a moment, noting the look of distress in his eyes. She sighed, before shrugging.
“It depends on if the arrow pierced anything or not.”
He just nodded.
Inuyasha helped Kaede clean you up as much as possible, working slightly and carefully as he did. As soon as Sango appeared with Kagome, however, he growled dangerously before dashing off.
Kagome watched after him sadly for a moment, before sighing and going to sit and watch. She didn’t really know what had possessed her to shoot at you, because she’d never even met you before. It was really stupid, and now Inuyasha was mad at her.
Great.
