Disclaimer: I do not own YYH or Inuyasha. I do not own you, either. I do own Tayce though, even if he’s based off my little cousin…
Hiei: Hn. That means you don’t own him either, onna.
Me: I do too!
Kurama: Techinquely, no you don’t. He isn’t an original character if you’re basing him off a real person.
Me: But but…
Hiei: You don’t own anything, onna.
Me: *sighs* Fine…I own nothing…
Kenshin: Wait, she owns the first book of our manga series (Inuyasha, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin)
Hiei: She still doesn’t own us, baka.
Me: Thanks for trying, Kenshin.
I own nothing.

…5 years later…
“Ok, let’s review: Where do you go while I’m at school?” you asked, grimacing at the thought.
A little finger pointed to the sand at the owner’s feet. You nodded.
“Do you leave this spot for any reason?” You crossed your arms, eyebrow raised.
A small head with long platinum-blonde hair shook slowly.
You smiled a little. “Who is the only one you Mindspeak to?”
< You, > a small, boyish voice whispered in your mind. Big blue eyes stared back at you sadly.
“I’ve always come back to you, right?” The little boy nodded. “Why would you doubt me now, Tayce?”
< Because I'm a freak... > the blue eyes turned away from yours.
You frowned. “Who says that?”
< The other boys who come to the park when you're gone. >
“I’ll let you in on a little secret,” you said softly, kneeling so you were level with the five-year-old. He looked at you curiously. “I’m a freak, too.”
< No you're not! You're beautiful! > He flushed a bright pink and shuffled. < You cant talk! >
“So can you, Tayce. You just…can’t here…not yet,” you said slowly. “Remember this conversation, I have to go or I’ll be late.”
He launched himself into your arms, taking you by surprise. He hugged you tightly, you returning it.
< Please come back for me >
“I will,” you whispered. “You know what to do if something happens to you.”
Tayce smiled at you, a demonic glint in his eyes as he tapped his temple. You nodded, standing up.
“Be back…soon.”
You sprinted off. Hopefully you wouldn’t get another detention. It always wore you out trying to Mindspeak with him unless he was already in your mind.
I am so dead if I’m late.
Sesshomaru stood under a tree in his garden, staring moodily at the horizon. It had been six years since Kaori stormed out of his palace in anger. He missed your terribly, even though he refused to show it.
“Where did you disappear to, Kaori?” he muttered into the silence. “Why did you go?”
“Sesshomaru!”
Grimacing, the dog demon whirled around to face the one person he hated most of all. His half-brother.
“I should kill you,” he growled.
Inuyasha smirked. “You could…if you didn’t want to hear what I have to say about your precious Kaori.”
Sesshomaru’s eyes widened just slightly in surprise. “What do you know?” he asked, as if completely ignoring the part about her being his “precious”.
Inuyasha’s smirk grew. “You want her as a mate,” he taunted.
The full demon growled a warning. “What do you know?” he repeated through clenched teeth.
Knowing he was walking on thin ice, Inuyasha shrugged and relented his teasing. “Six years ago, Kaori traveled to a small, forgotten city…of which I can’t remember the name,” he paused, thinking.
Sesshomaru’s eyes flashed in impatience. The half-demon smiled apologetically at his brother.
“Anyway, she was allowed to stay as long as she promised to defend the city against demons that attacked. When one did, and she defeated it, she would be paid a large amount of food…sounds nice…”
The older demon growled lowly.
“Um…anyway, about five years ago, a woman gave birth to a halfling, and the wetnurse thought Kaori was a helper, and she stole the little guy. The soldiers hunted her down, but never found her. It’s thought that she fled into ningenkai.” Inuyasha slowly started backing away from his older brother. When Sesshomaru made no response, the half-dog ran away as fast as he could.
The prince leaned his weight against the tree, shock numbing his entire body. You went into the human world? Whatever for? No demon in their right mind would willingly go there.
“Why did you go there, Kaori? Why did you leave?” he asked no one in particular.
Somehow he knew the answer, and visibly flinched. He had pushed you away, fearing the emotional attachment he was forming for you. How could he have been so stupid?
“I will get you back, and you will be my mate, Kaori,” he muttered. “Looks like I’ll be taking a trip.”
“Hey look, it’s the freak!”
Tayce stayed silent, as usual, drawing patterns in the sand like he had for as long as he could remember. He spent all his time in the large sand pit at the park, so it became his version of the Sands of Time.
I told Xia I wouldn’t move. She promised she would come back, he thought.
Suddenly, unwelcome hands wrapped themselves into his long white-blonde locks, and yanked him to his feet. He didn’t respond until they pulled him out of the sand pit and a few feet away from it. His eyes widened in panic.
She told me to stay! I’m not supposed to leave the sand! He began to panic, and feebly tried to pull away from the boy who was holding him.
“Where ya going, freak? Or have you decided we’re too good to be near, let alone talk to?” the older boy sneered.
His two friends chuckled stupidly, not really understanding. {o.0 It’s like Draco and his two cronies…*gets hit with a wet noodle* x.X sorry…} Tayce resisted the urge to roll his eyes, knowing that would only speed up the other boys’ anger. He tried once more to get out of his enemy’s grip, only to wince as his hair was pulled sharply in response.
“What are you so keen to get back to the sandbox for?” the boy asked incredulously.
Tayce made no reply, trying desperately to keep at least one of his promises with you. He pulled again, only to stop as he realized the hand in his hair wasn’t going to bulge anytime soon.
“Hey, Kyle, maybe he’s got a buried treasure in it,” one of the idiots laughed.
The older boy, now known as Kyle, snorted. “I doubt it; he’s too poor for a baby-sitter…let alone a treasure.”
He sighed. You worked really hard to pay rent for the small apartment you two shared. Everyday after school, you had come to get him and taken him home. Once there, you had about an hour before you set up one of the Playstation 2 games for him to play, and left to go to work at the restaurant/bar down the road. You were always exhausted when you came home, but still had to do whatever homework you had.
Suddenly he felt himself being dragged over to the original place he had been sitting in. A hard shove and he found himself face-first in the sand, with a mouth-full of the stuff. He sat up, spitting it out.
“You’re such a little freak!” {Sounds like those two boys from A Little Vampire…*gets thwacked with a cheap imitation of Kurama’s rose whip* @.@...} Kyle shouted at him.
Out of the corner of his eye, Tayce could see a foot getting ready to lodge itself somewhere on him. He closed his eyes and waited for the pain.
“Hey there! What do you think you’re doing?”
The new voice startled him and he opened his eyes in shock. There, a few feet away, were three strangers. One of them, the one who had spoken, had flaming red hair and green emerald eyes. The other two had black hair, except one’s was gelled, and the other’s stuck up as if defying gravity. {Guess whoooo…*gets hit over the head with Hiei’s sheathed katana* Violent bunch, aren’t you?????! O.O}
“We were just playing, honest sir!” Kyle said sweetly, having lowered his foot.
Gravity-hair crossed his arms and glared. “Hn. Looks more like you were beating the ningen up. Perhaps you should run along to your mommies.”
The three boys didn’t need telling twice, because they both took off running. Tayce watched them silently, before looking back at the three men.
The crimson haired one, smiled kindly at him, startling him with the similarity between his smile and yours. He glanced around nervously, finally noticing how dark it was. She should have been here by now, he thought frantically. She left me! He started to shiver uncontrollably.
“Hey, you ok, kid?” Gell-hair asked him, having knelt down.
Tayce just stared at them silently, too petrified with shock and sadness to answer.
“Hn,” growled Gravity. “He’s so thankful, giving us the silent treatment. The baka.”
Crimson glanced at his friend, before looking down at him. “We’re not going to hurt you, honest.”
“Yeah,” Gell said. “We’re on your side, kid.”
