“Do you know what I want?”
“S-Sirius…”
“No. Not anymore. I want you gone, got it?”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Because Gin, I don’t love you. I love Alyssa.”
“B-But…”
“Get out of my sight, you disgusting sleeper!”
---
Sitting on your bed, knees drawn to your chest, you stare morbidly at the cover just above your toes. How could you have thought he would truly love you? He was Sirius Black for Merlin’s sake! He cared for no one other than himself!
I’m such an idiot, you thought to yourself as you let a lone tear trickle from your eye. I should have listened to their warnings.
Your friends had tried to warn you, they really had. However, you had been too blinded by the false sense of love Sirius had given to you. He had always been so sweet, but that had changed after Christmas holidays and he came back with his attitude completely changed.
He’d gone from the perfect boyfriend, to world-class not a very nice person in a matter of weeks.
“Gin?”
Quickly wiping your eyes of the rest of the tears that were still at threat, you looked up at the silhouette of someone standing on the other side of your drawn curtains.
“Yeah, Remus?”
“I was sent up here to get you…because James is too afraid to face Lily’s wrath at the moment.”
You laughed softly; it came out as more of a sigh. Lily had been very angry with her finally-boyfriend after Sirius dumped you.
“Is there a specific reason I am needed downstairs?”
“Well…no…but…you can’t hide up here forever, Gin.”
“I want you to watch and see how long it lasts.”
“Gin, I know your still bitter, but—”
“I wasn’t talking about their relationship, Remus! I was talking about my staying up here!”
“Oh,” he said, sounding slightly sheepish. “Sorry.”
Sighing, you crawled to the end of the bed and slid from inside the security of your drapes, to look at him with empty eyes.
“It doesn’t matter anymore. Let’s go.”
Giving you a sad, small smile he gently began to lead you down the stairs towards the Common Room.
“So, how’d you get up here?”
“Molly let me up.”
“Oh…”
The two of you were silent, thoughts filling your minds to preoccupy you. However, you did manage to see Sirius with his arms around her, and froze.
It felt as if someone had grabbed you by the throat, and was slowly closing their grip on your vocal cords. You let out a small whimper, causing Remus to look up from the ground where he’d been staring thoughtfully, and over in the direction of his best friend.
However, it also attracted the gaze of that friend, as well.
Sirius stared at you sadly for a couple moments, before he hardened his gaze and looked away. A glance at Alyssa revealed a very evil looking smirk on her face. But when you blinked and looked closer, it was all gone.
“Come on, you can’t avoid them forever…” Remus whispered.
You just shook your head and backed away from the entrance into the Common Room.
“Oh yes I can,” you whispered, before bolting back up the stairs.
The haunting laughter of Sirius’ new girlfriend chasing you all the way.
You didn’t even reach your dorm before Remus grabbed you by the arm and pulled you against his body, his own arms wrapped around you protectively. As soon as you made contact with his chest, you broke out in sobs of utter pain and anguish.
“I-I can’t d-do it, Remus!” you sobbed.
“Shh…” he murmured as he stroke your hair soothingly.
Immediately you calmed down, sighing heavily as you sagged against him heavily.
“It hurts so much.”
“I know, Gin, I know…”
“I feel as if I’m the left over scraps of an artist’s prize creation.”
“No. Never. Gin, you are the artist’s creation.”
You laughed bitterly. “Very funny Remus. Nice try.”
He sighed sadly. “I’m serious.”
“B-But…”
“I’ve loved you since first year; do you remember how we met?”
“I was…sitting in my compartment reading something…” you murmured.
He chuckled softly, gently guiding you over to your bed. “Yes. The way your eyes danced with emotions as you read. They flickered from sadness, to anger, to happiness, to love—all because of one book. You even got ready to turn the page before you were done with the first one. It was so endearing. I wanted to be the one to make your eyes do that…”
“Oh, gods…Remus…”
“Hey, don’t start crying on my account,” he said sternly, gently picking you up to crawl into bed with you in his arms.
“Y-you loved me when I was w-with Sirius, though!”
“Yes, but I didn’t care as long as you were happy. Gin, ever since he broke it off, your eyes have been so empty; so lifeless. The spark is gone…and I want you to bring it back…”
You snuggled against him, letting his steady heartbeat sooth you more than words ever could. You’d always loved to cuddle with Remus, even before you dated Sirius. He never seemed to mind, and now you understood why.
“I don’t know if I can,” you whispered.
“Then let me help you.”
“I don’t—”
“Let me mold you, Gin,” he whispered into your hair. “Let me mold you into the world’s masterpiece.”
“Alright, Remus…”
“S-Sirius…”
“No. Not anymore. I want you gone, got it?”
“Why are you doing this?”
“Because Gin, I don’t love you. I love Alyssa.”
